Fighting comment spam

To stop online criminals from spamming my site’s comments I’ve added some checks to the incoming comments:

• Some words are no longer allowed, like casino, poker etc.
• Links are not allowed, no more <a> tags may be used.

I don’t want to turn off comments totally, you never know if someday this site will actually attract some visitors that will want to comment on an message

Nieuw: linklog voor Ontwikkelingen

Ontwikkelingen is uitgebreid met een linklog voor links naar nederlandstalige sites die ik tegenkom op het net. Die links voeg ik toe via del.icio.us en een PHP-script plaatst ze daarvandaan op deze pagina. Hoe dat werkt heb ik het artikel My linklog now comes from del.icio.us geschreven.

My first comment

A new milestone for this site. Yesterday I got my first real comment, not counting family.

Flickr photos on the site

I’ve added a column of photos to the site. They come from Flickr, where you can store, organize and share your photos online.

I created an account, called kwebble to put my photos. Then I let the site generate a JavaScript to add to my site. This script puts the photos I’ve recently uploaded to Flickr on my own site. So now when I add a photo to Flickr it automatically shows up here.

The only thing I miss is an alternative text for each image. Perhaps they could use the tags added to the image for that?

Finally I have my own place on the web, available at kwebble.com.

At this time a search with Google, Yahoo and MSN all give only 1 result for ‘kwebble’, spread over two different pages. Two pages I have nothing to do with, by the way.
Let’s see if I can increase that number.

Woblog op Dagelinks

Hee, Dagelinks.nl heeft mijn Woblog gevonden. Bij de Losse links staat hij alleen genoemd als Roblog. Ook goed, als de link maar klopt.

Ontwikkelingen

Een nieuwe weblog, genaamd Ontwikkelingen. Eerder was ik al gestart met Woblog, een engelstalige weblog waarin ik onder andere interessante links over het ontwikkelen van webtoepassingen en wetenschap verzamel. Maar dat vond ik niet de beste plaats om puur Nederlandse onderwerpen te bespreken. Daarom is er nu deze weblog bijgekomen.

Een ander verschil tussen de beide sites is de achterliggende techniek. Woblog wordt gehost bij weblogs.com, en beheer ik via Radio Userland, dat ook scant naar nieuwe berichten. Deze nieuwe weblog wordt vanuit Blogger onderhouden.
